The Only Oral Herpes Treatment That Gets Rid of Cold Sores For Good

November 23rd, 2009

Fever blisters, cold sores, I don’t care what you call them, I hate them. They hurt, are annoying, and most important, embarrassing. If you suffer from them, I know what you are going through. I found out that I had come in contact with the herpes simplex 1 virus when I was a young child. This is not an uncommon event, as you may already know. I could have contracted it with something so simple as sharing a soda with another child. My embarrassment was magnified due to the fact that I not only got cold sores very frequently, but mine also lasted longer than the average persons. This has led me to trying every oral herpes treatment imaginable.

For the most part I stuck with doctor prescribed treatments from the time I was a little girl, up until I was a young woman. Although some of these treatments were successful at times, the length of success was often too short, especially when considering the cost of most of these oral herpes treatments.

Over time, the cost of some of these treatments became outrageous. The fact that they didn’t work for more then a few weeks at a time, meant I couldn’t really justify the costs. No matter how much I paid for the newest treatment, the cold sores always came back.

This is where things get good though. It’s been 2 years since I’ve last gotten a cold sore. Also, those expensive medications are a thing of the past for me. 20 years, and thousands of dollars just for the fever blisters to return over and over. My new method on the other hand was inexpensive, and pretty easy to implement, I just had to change my lifestyle a bit.

The first steps you must take in your battle against the virus are easy, but you must take action. You need to remember to wash your hands as often as possible, especially when a sore is present. Another key factor in this oral herpes treatment is the avoidance of stress. A weakened immune system is a well-known factor that causes cold sores, stress plays a huge part in weakening the immune system. The final step is avoiding fatigue, and trying to be healthier overall.

Cigarettes Lets you Relax?

November 9th, 2009

I’ve worked with a lot of people to quit smoking. In doing this, I have heard all kinds of reasons that it might be better if they kept smoking.

I’ve been told smoking sharpens your mind, relaxes you, calms you, keeps you from yelling at the kids (or spouse), tastes good with coffee, tastes better after a meal. In short, makes you feel “better”. (I always ask “better than what”?)

I know you don’t really believe these reasons, or why would you be trying to stop smoking. Still, a part of you DOES believe these reasons.

A part of you MUST believe your reasons or you would have quit smoking by now. Now may be a good time to know there are no laws that say your reason to keep smoking has to make sense. They rarely do.

You’ve probably already proven your reasons untrue. Smoking might taste better with coffee because the coffee taste on your tongue covers the bad taste of smoking???

And most of the time you’re AWARE it doesn’t make sense. That doesn’t change anything though, does it? Just one more log to toss on the fire of your motivation to quit. A fire that doesn’t have much chance against the ocean of your craving to smoke.

It all comes down to two things. The belief that smoking will make you feel better and what you’re trying to feel better than. That’s it.

If you’re thirsty you crave something to drink. If you’re hungry you crave food. If you feel bad (tired, stressed, overwhelmed, angry, lonely, whatever…) you want to feel good. And, whatever your mind has been taught feels good, you will crave.

This is simple explanation of a craving. Some smokers have more than one type of craving, the ‘first thing in the morning’ craving might feel different than the ‘on the phone’ craving.

So how to help this situation? I can spend a few articles explaining it (and I have, look for them) But, it comes down to changing the feelings, motivations and beliefs involved.

First, feeling bad needs to be looked at and helped. If it’s stress, get it managed, if it’s a bad situation, do what you can to fix it or get help.

Second, you belief that smoking helps you feel good (it’s probably the innocent mistake that smoking equals being an adult, in control, strong, capable, etc…) In truth, a cigarette is a plant leaf and chemicals wrapped in paper. The good feeling you’re anticipating from smoking is created by your mind. YOU make yourself feel better when you smoke. So it only makes sense that you can make yourself feel good by doing something that is healthy. If, your mind believes it makes you feel good.

And that’s the trick. Quit smoking is mainly about modifying behavior. That’s why the success rate of medication and nicotine replacement alone is so poor. The only current exception is Chantix and even Pfizer, the makers of Chantix, recommend behavior modification along with the medication.

Does A Yeast Infection Mean You Are Pregnant?

October 21st, 2009

It’s common for all adult females at least some time in their life to experience some issues with the private areas of their bodies. Vaginal infections are commonplace among adult females, and yeast infections are especially frequent. It seems like a yeast infection is more likely to happen if you are expecting. Because of various elements, more expectant women are infected by yeast and some of those infections may not be easy to master.

More technical terms for yeast infection include monilial vaginitis or vaginal candidiasis. Cadida, a common fungus, is believed to be the primary cause of most yeast infections. More specifically, the fungus Candida albicans for most part, induces the infection in adult females’s vaginal area. However, you should be aware, that Candida is present already, in the body of the woman. The fungus occurs naturally and therefore shouldn’t be a cause to be alarmed.

The food you eat, your individual hygiene and the even the lifestyle you live all can affect the growth of the fungus in your vaginal area. Yeast infections can be induced by eating too many carbohydrates and sugar which allows the fungus to flourish in such conditions. Candida thrives on increased sugar levels in the blood stream.

For pregnant women, the usual cause of infection would be the altering estrogen levels during maternity. Glycogen becomes raised during pregnancy when estrogen levels rise significantly. At this time, glycogen causes the region to be more receptive to the growth of yeast. As specialists explain it, glycogen may stimulate the yeast, making it grow more quickly and possibly permitting the fungus to adhere to the vagina walls.

Consuming antibiotics will help with the enlargement of the fungus. If you have been taking antibiotic pills for a long time, the harmful bacteria will be destroyed but good bacteria growing in the vaginal region may also be eliminated, causing the fungus to overpower the helpful microorganisms. Once the fungus has taken over the area, the body will tend to respond to it resulting in an infection.

The symptoms that you should look out for include itching, irritation, burning sensation, soreness and inflammation of the vagina and surrounding area. These can be the early signs of the infection. As it gets worse, you may notice a white-colored, milky cheese-like secretion that doesn’t smell. While pregnant having sexual activity can often increase your prospects of a yeast infection. Sexual contact should be avoided if you’re experiencing any pain with your infection.

The good news for expectant women is that yeast infection will not impact on your baby in any way. The baby will not be negatively affected by the infection.

Another good thing is that dealing with a yeast infection cases in expectant women is the same as with the remedies available to regular cases. Moreover, you should contact your doctor because you may not know of any outcomes the medication for yeast infections may have on you. A doctor may order a non-prescription antifungal ointment as well. Specific products exist that are designed for fighting yeast infections in females.

Think about your baby, not a yeast infection. See this review of yeast infection treatments and cure your yeast infection once and for all.
