Thanksgiving Menus- What Mistakes Should You Avoid?

It’s that time of year again, when you gather together with friends and family for a splendid slap up dinner – and you have decided to host it! Hopefully you have done all your shopping and not left it till the last minute as you may not find a suitably large turkey and the, assuming it’s frozen, it will need two fays to thaw slowly and evenly in the refrigerator. Have you invited your guests and worked out your menu?

Probably the most common mistake is to not properly thaw out your frozen turkey in time and then there is a last minute panic. A turkey should not be left out on the counter at room temperature, but should be thawed very slowly in the refrigerator. Depending on how large your bird is this can take up to three days, so do prepare your bird ahead of time.

You will want to get your stuffing ready ahead of time but this is beast achieved by getting all the ingredients ready where they can all be mixed together on the morning of Thanksgiving. You can dry the bread for breadcrumbs by leaving it out, covered, for a day or two, or, baking it for a short while in an oven at about 250 degrees until it becomes crunchy.

The turkey is too dry – Slice the breast meat into serving slices and place in a roasting tin. Then cover with some of the fat from the roasted turkey plus some chicken stock. Add a few knobs of butter around the pan, cover with foil and then warm in the oven for a little while until the butter is melted.

Turkey is done too soon. If the turkey is cooked before you are ready to serve you can keep it warm by making a tent of foil over it after removing it from the oven. A turkey should rest for about 15 minutes anyway after cooking so a little longer won’t hurt.

3. The gravy is too thin-If this happens you can boil lightly to evaporate more liquid, or, add some corn flour mixed with water. This should be added slowly and well stirred in to avoid lumps. If you do get a few lumps you can strain the gravy just before serving.

The gravy is too salty tasting Another common problem that can be solved, either by adding a few pinches of sugar, testing as you go, or, putting a peeled potato into the pan and letting it simmer for a while The potato will absorb salt and is then removed before serving.

Mashed potatoes are too watery-Add one of the following: baking sodas, instant potatoes buds, a sprinkle of powdered milk and then use a hand or a powered whisk to incorporate and thicken.

If you are prepared for any of the above mistakes that can occur you will be able to deal with them without stress or panic, and hence have an enjoyable Thanksgiving dinner.

My Simple Diet Routine

This has been a really interesting year for me. I’ve lost my job and I’ve had some great weight fluctuations. What started out on a bad note has ended on a positive one.

Earlier this year, I ended up spending a lot of time indoors after I lost my job, and I ended up gaining 30 pounds in about 8 months. I couldn’t believe this, as I had never weighed this much before in my life.

From there, I tried to figure out what was going on. I wasn’t really eating any differently, and I guess it was just the gradual buildup of burning a few less calories every day.

This has been great, as I’ve done it the right way without starving myself either. Here are three quick tips that I’ll give you, all of which I’ve been following.

The biggest thing that I did was the fact that I eliminated any and all sodas from my every day drinking habits. I don’t care if it’s a diet cola that has no calories, I still think it’s bad.

I think that sugar is what led to my weight gain more than anything else, so I decided to nip that in the bud. It was hard to do at first, but finding replacements for sugar like fruit makes the job a lot easier. After a few weeks, you simply won’t crave sugar like you used to.

Next, I make it a point to run at least 4 times weekly. I really try for 5 or 6 when I can, but 4 should do the job, especially if you aim for a faster speed each time.

Finally, I needed to cut down on the fat in my diet and decided to do away with anything fried. Harder than it sounds, because you’ll really feel great once you stop.

While I still haven’t found a job, I’ve been writing about mailboxes made of copper and brass mailboxes on sale.

3. Mango rose with ice cream filling. You’re basically cutting the mango up to look like a rose. It’s not as hard as it sounds, as there are instructions online.

From there, you’ll put some ice cream inside the mango, which makes for a beautiful presentation and a tasty dessert.

The most difficult part on the highway to weight loss will not be found in the gym. Nor will it be found in the sweat that drips down your face. Your down turn will come very slowly. You will begin enthusiastic and energetic, and then the wave of doubt will set in. Or maybe worry, or even time constraints. What can you do to handle all of these things?
